What do you yhink

O.k so now I am happy.

I have finally found a spot here where I can freely go and there are snakes!!!!!
A friend of ours here in thailand has a fish and shrimp farm.
I told him I wanted to see some water snakes and he told me to come round because they sometimes get caught in the nets.

After a few catches we found nothing and again I thought it would be a fruitless night.
That was until we went to go release some of the bigger fish caught that day from the nets (was about 9pm) and there floating in the water using the nets as support were two dog face water snakes and a chequered keel back.
I was so exited, no snakes for ages and then three in a night.

We moved the net and one of the snakes came swimming towards the shore so we scooped it up in the porous net and I grabbed it by the tail.
What a pleasure, I haven't picked a snake up for nearly 10 years( last time i was a kid)
I had a good look at it, took some photo's( which I can't get on here ) and let it go back in the water.

Awesome.

My only thing now is that I would love to be able to interact with snakes on a more regular basis.
The only thing is that I might only be here for another 10 months or so.

So the questions is...if you take a snake from the wild, keep it for a shortish while, will there be problems if you free the snake after that time?

I really don't know and maybe i'll just keep going on up there and looking for others...what do you think??

Thanks

I used to take animals out of the wild for a while and keep them for a few weeks and then release them back. There are problems with this though. If the animals picks up any sort of parasite or disease and is then released back, it could spread. So now I only take animals which I plan on keeping long term. I would just go out and enjoy seeing the animals in the wild. Take plenty of pictures, keep an observation book, etc. Record temps and times and dates when you find them. It is fun to look back and see all the species you have found and when you found them.

Yeah, you know that was actually my original idea, and it's probably the better one too.

You know what it's like though you see and have contact and you don't want it to stop.

But really that is what I needed to hear, I'll be out again this weekend to see what else is about
