HELP!!!Live in Texas, caught an Anole, and don't know anything about it. rop

newsnakemom Aug 05, 2004 11:38 AM

We didn't have anything but the bug carrier to put it in last night, so we put it in there with some grass and a rock and some water (in a coke top lid), was going to go to petco today, and see what kind of food I could find. The kids called me @ work today, and said that it laid 16 eggs. What do I do know!!!!! I was gonna move it into something bigger, but I dont know if I should move the eggs.

Help Please!!!!!

Well I don't know much about the eggs, but you can get a ten gallon aquarium, (Walmart should have them by the fish, less that ten bucks.) and a screen lid for it. some plants, live or fake. (pothos, orchids, snake plants, ect.) I use jungle mix cage substrate but some people say that substrate is not neccesary since an anole is not likely to spend a lot of time on the ground. Keep humidity up with a spray bottle. They will eat crickets, grasshoppers, and other insects.

WARNING: Do not use a ten gallon aquarium if it is being kept outside, since you are in Texas they can be kept outside, but in screen or a specially designed cage. Glass or plastic cages outside will kill reptiles by warming up too much in the sun.

I am not an expert, but this is what you should do right away for the anole. Keep looking for more information. The more you know about it, the better.

Is it a green anole? It laid 16 eggs at one time? Then it is not an anole. To my knowledge they can only lay a max. of two every other week. Mine only lay one every other week.

No kidding. I missed that. What else could it be if it isn't a green anole.

I'm sure there lots of things it could be. Is there any way you can post a photo here? Maybe someone can help you identify it for sure.
