Care of a baby anole

CollardGuy Aug 05, 2004 12:27 PM

How should I take care of a baby green anole? It is to small to put in with my other one. It is about 2" long with the tail. She eats little crickets that I put in with her, and she appears to be healthy. I have a 1' by 7" plastic small animal cage for her right now, with a live plant, a little fake pothos vine, and a water dish, (I know they don't usually drink from a dish, but the adult I have will occassionally drink from one.) I am spraying the cage twice a day and feeding her little 1/8 crickets coated with Repcal and Herptitive supplements.

I have 2 babies also that I got from a friend. I have them in a 10 gallon tank with reptile carpet, branches, and a live plant. They are eating pin heads and fruit flies. So far so good. I have a light on them to help with heat. They seem ok. Temp is around 85 near the top of tank and around 80 near the bottom. I am hoping my set up is ok for these 2. They are bahaman anoles.

I can not stress the importance of reading this site if you are new to anoles. Even if you have had other reptiles you can learn something from this site.
