What would be a good size heat lamp for my 20 gallon tank? I don't want to get big of a light that will over heat the entire enclosure.
Thanks,
Miller

20 gallon is probably too small for a dragon (unless he's a baby), but as far as your wattage question, 50 or 60 watt will probably work best. Be sure to put it at one end of the cage so you have a good heat gradient (105 under basking area and about 80-85 on the other side).
Actually I have two babies and thanks for the recommendation. I am in the process of coverting a my Python cage which is 6'x3' into nice pad for them. I have kept snake for most of my 35 soon to be 36 years so I am pretty well informed on general reptile care. Dragons from what I have learned have a high heat requirement. With that said, I am new to Bearded Dragons (rescue became a pet) so I have a few questions about there up keep that books don't seem to address (the ones I have read so far) the answers to my particular questions.
Thanks again for the post,
Miller

make sure the light is a spot not flood or house hold bulb. a 40 or 50 should do it. using a spot helps to make a better gradient by focusing the heat instead of heating the entire cage.
Snakes and BDs are different worlds, so any questions are welcome. good luck to you and your BD rescues.
