You do not need to remove the male when she litters down. If you have already done so, use caution putting him back in. The mom may get upset and snack on the litter. They shoud be ok though.
Dittos to that reply, I raise my own feeders. You don't want to remove your male. Not only will the female possibly eat the pinkies (a natural behavior in mice when the nest is disturbed) but she might also castrate the male or kill him altogether. Adding new mice to an established mouse colony without injury or death resulting can be difficult at best. Once you have an established colony your better of leaving it be and harvesting the young out until the colony stops reproducing.Personally I think Rats are much better (I raise both but would eliminate mice if I could) and depending on what kind of monitor you keep possibly a better choice for feeder colonies in the long term.
