duckofdomination Aug 05, 2004 04:09 PM

So I use a heating pad during the day, i dont need to have any light on the tank at all during the day? (My room get light during the day)
And a red/blue or purple bulb at night? night time is the only time that i need a light bulb?
(sorry i just want to make sure i get this right)

NO lighting is REQUIRED, either at night or during the day (however it will help them establish a photoperiod). Normal light in a room from a window usually works fine for me.

Some people use night time lights so they can watch their leos when thay are msot active. As long as you can keep up the temps, it's fine.

So do i need to use any type of heating bulb or anything during the day? Or night?

I dont have any leopard geckos yet...
In a couple of weeks right now I am properly setting
Up the tank and getting "stuff for the little leo"
I do have 3 ferrets and 4 dogs.

As long as you are using the UTH with a thermostat and it is strong enough to keep the temps where they should be, NO lighting is required

UTH = Under Tank Heater (AKA heating pad).

Correct. Most people put the UTH covering about 1/3 of the tank (the side that they want hot). The temps on that side should be around 90 (spots that the leo can touch), and the other side should be about 78-80 during the day after some stabilization. A thermostat helps maintain these temps a lot!
