Calling all bairds owners (pic request)

Kevin Saunders Aug 05, 2004 08:49 PM

Hey guys, I've worked out a deal with a friend that will remove 2 breeder snakes from my collection and I've decided to take the opportunity to get a texas bairds rat. I've seen lots of nice pics and have yet to see one I don't like. However, I've been shopping around a little and have so far found 4 different breeders offering them. They are VMS Herp, Renegade Reptiles, Vivid Reptiles, and JD Tails. I was hoping some of you would have bairds from their stock and could show me what they produce. There are some price differences and I'm just wondering if the more expensive ones would look much nicer. Anyway, if you guys could share some representative photos from any of these lines, I would greatly appreciate it. I'd also be interested if you can point me to some other sources for them as well. Thanks a bunch.

I just bought one at a local show in Indianapolis but had a classified at the "other" site. I was emailed by someone who had 2.0 available. you may want to check with him and see if he has any left. He has an add towards the top of the ratsnake classified.

um....what is the "other" website? I've been looking around but don't seem to have any luck on live message boards....the only other one being reptile advice.com and they have about one thread every 2 months....lol.

Try the folks at Kern Reptile Research Center. They breed both Texas and Mexacan Bairds. If you go to their site, you can see photos of their breeding stock. I think that one of them posts on this site all the time. I got some Yellows from them last year, and I am very happy with the snakes that they sold me.

Hi Paula -
I think those Hwy 377 locale Texas bairds are going to show some really nice colors. I want to see them at about 3 years old. Thanks for sharing an update of pics.

Nothing against and of the other breeders you mentioned. I really like Rick at Renegade and have done business w/ him several times. In my opinion Vivid has the best bairdi out there for the color and pattern I like, again this is just my opinion. I have a stunning male from him and am thinking about getting more this yr. I lost the pics I had when my computer crashed a couple weeks ago but I will try and get a pic later today for you. My pair is a vivid male to an Adam Block female.

Hi Don - Did your VIVIVD/Block pair produce this year? You are correct about Rick and Becky Trenney at Renegades. They have some great Texas bairds. In fact they have a lot of nice snakes. I picked up a few female Texas bairds from Rick last year at the San Diego show. Rick doesn't have locale info on them. Good luck.
