I'm gonna take a stab at marbled gecko, (Gekko grossmani).
I know a rock gecko, Phyllopezus pollicaris, from south america. Can you say if it looks like it?

The one i saw was darker and had a fat tail. The body was shaped like a fat tail gecko.
If it is fairly small, it is most likely a Colenyx varigatus/mitratus.
I think you are referring to Homopholis fasciata.

Doubtfull its a fasciata, they are fairly rare in the pet store lists.
