RETF Death

bootsofleather Aug 05, 2004 11:19 PM

I bought a RETF from a respected dealer about a month ago. It never really seemed active, but I assumed it was eating OK. Two days ago, I woke up and it was perched on its water dish, cleaned the night before, and its throat was all puffed up like it had been vocalizing or something, but couldn't get it to deflate (I know this is not the problem, but it's what it looked like). I checked him out and it didn't seem to be discolored or anything, just the throat thing. When I got home from work later that day he was dead. I have tried to find anything that would cause a similar trauma online, but without luck. I have never kept RETF's and would like to get another one, but don't want the same thing to happen. Any suggestions would help, Thanks.

If the RETF was your first tree frog it shouldn't have been. They are extremly sensitive and delicate. I would suggest either a green tree frog or Whites as a great beginner tree frog. But if you have had experience before purchasing the RETF just disregard this post.

I have 2 White's, one for about two and a half years and the other for about a year. Never really had any problems with them.
