MY LEO WONT LEAVE HIS COLD SIDE! :'( HELP!

$$PsYcHo$$ Jun 23, 2003 03:36 PM

Hey all! i changed my leo's cage around about a week ago and changed to natural sand from calcium. ever since my leo has been more active. everytime i look at the tank he's in a new spot. but he's also spent 90% of his time on the cold side now, in his cave.i like how hes always out and all now but is this a good thing or a bad thing?
the heated sides cave, now, completely takes up all the heating pad. so if my leo wants to be warm then he HAS to stay in his cave! is this part of the problem? also when i had finished cleaning his cage, when i just put him in, he found the cold sides cave first! is this why he wont leave it now? he stayed in the wrm sides cave 90% of the time before i changed his enclosure around! now he wont go in the warm side cave and i rarely see him even on the warmside anymore! and by rarely i mean at the most, once a week! :'(

ps. i didnt switch his hides around! i did move them around but they didnt switch sides! please help asap! thanx!

Calm down...if he is eating fine and his poops are normal then there is nothing to worry about. If it looks like he is not properly digesting his food then you know he is not visiting the warm side even when you are not there. Is your warm side too hot? He may not like it hot...or maybe its too cool and he doesn't think there is a difference. Make sure the temps are correct. Now, if your temps are correct and you have a humid hide on the warm side it could be that he does not like the humid hide. In that case, make a smaller humid hide so he can have a quarter to half the warm side bare and the other half part of the humid hide. If you have done all this, and he still ins't using the warm side, I'd say he doesn't like the sand and st switch to some other substrate.
