HELP EGGS DEFLATING

mike3 Jun 23, 2003 03:45 PM

THE MALIS EGSS HAVE BEEN INCUBATING FOR 25 DAYS WITH NO PROBLEMS BUT JUST RECENTLY 2 EGGS HAVE SHRIVILED UP. I MIGHT HAVE TO THROW 1 OF THEM AWAY THE OTHER MIGHT BE SAVABLE. WHAT SHOULD I DO.

I SEPARATED THE 2 EGGS AND PUT MORE WATER IN THE VERMICULITE. THEN I SPRAYED THE TOP OF THE DELI CUP. IS THIS OK? MY TEMPS ARE AT 91-95. TODAY IS DAY 30. WHAT SHOULD I DO?

I have not had any experience with Uro's.
However I have hatched about 200 Water dragons, and when this would happen , I would add small amounts of Mountain spring water(from Bottle) to increase humidity.
I had incredible success rates in hatching.
I hope you get some other responses very soon.
Good luck.

I don't have a ton of experience with breeding and hatching but I from what I have heard and read the shriviling is due to decreased humidity. So its probably good that you've sprayed them, you should also cover them up a little more (not totally so that you can't even see them) with your incubating substate, keep it moist (damp, not soaking wet otherwise it will be more subseptable(sp?) to bacteria and mold)and this should increase the humidity. The eggs should then begin to reform their original shape.

I kept losing geyri eggs that way. Then I was told to add more water to the vermiculite and completely cover the top (no air holes needed). I used saran wrap. The eggs are about half out of the vermiculite. So far since doing that I haven't lost any more. I was also told NOT to spray the eggs. I've always done that with beardie eggs but was told that this is not a good idea.
