New Centralian Acquisition (pics)

Chance Aug 06, 2004 11:13 AM

Well, my 1.1 adult striped Centralians arrived yesterday, and I couldn't be happier. My decision to get out of the venomous snake hobby was a tough one, but these have made it pretty well unregrettable. I wanted to start getting into the higher end pythons, and have always been a carpet fan, so I figured the Centralians were a pretty good bet. The female of this pair, the one in the pictures, is around 6' in length and is amazingly heavy for her thickness. She is very docile and not picky at all about her eating habits. The male is basically the complete opposite. He is around 5', thin-bodied, doesn't take well to being handled, and only seems to like mice. I'm planning on changing that last little part as soon as I possibly can. His attitude is the reason he's not in any of these pictures. Anyway, enjoy the pictures. There's probably many more to come.

Well, I wouldn't exactly say I *just* joined the higher end python club....considering the retics that are currently taking up space in my house...lol...but I'm definitely expanding. I would very much like to add womas to the list at some point in the near future, and of course Boelen's would be the apex python of all (IMHO).

As for my departure from the venomous hobby, after weighing all the options, it just wasn't worth it. That hobby is doomed anyway. New laws popping up here and there and everywhere it seems. Those that are in it better enjoy it while they can. The members of the hobby itself can't seem to get along well enough to even hope to realistically fight the placement of those new laws. It's a sad deal, but maybe with a little luck it'll hang on somehow.
