Hey man,
Texas Horned Lizard, huh? Well, good luck.
There are some people around who breed them, but I'm not sure they sell to the public.......Have you tried a Desert Horned Lizard? Lots of people breed and sell those....plus they are considered by many forum experts to be the best of a very hard family of lizards to start with. If you're really lucky, sometimes a breeder will come up with Short-Horned Lizards, or Round-Tails, but you have to do a lot of web surfing for those.
As for your texas HL, do some E-mailing to the forum gurus, maybe they can help you more than I can. Good luck with your endeavor.

You can get Round tails at Reptiledepot.com
Most likely they're WC, however unless you get them from a breeder.. you can bet nearly all of them are the same, or at least LTC

Thanks for your help i appreciate it a lot. Does the desert horned lizard also shoot blood from his eyes as a defense? thats not the reason i want one but i still think thats an awsome defense. I've seen pictures on tv shows of sopme kind of horned lizard which looks like a texas horned lizard and when he walks he has a studder in a way where he takes a step then moves back and forth in the same place when his feet are planted, that also looks awsome.
thanks again for your help

Hey man,

No problem. According to Wade Sherbrooke's latest book, Desert Horned lizards, or DHLs for short, are part of a group of Horned lizards that appear to have lost the ability to shoot blood as a defense. As they have adapted to life, perhaps they discovered that their camoflague, or some other defense works better against predators than shooting them with blood. Frankly, I would be more unnerved by being shot with blood than anything else, but I'm not a typical "predator". =) Other HLs that appear to have lost this trait are the Flat-tail, and Round-Tail Horned lizards.

As to your HL you saw on TV, I'm willing to bet it was an Austrailian Thorny Devil. They aren't related to Horned lizards, but do indeed look like one. The Thorny Devil tends to walk like you described, sort of like a branch or leaf swaying. Its pretty cool. Good luck with your prospective lizards. If you have other questions, don't be afraid to ask also. Talk to you soon,
