oxycephala egg-guarding

nazza Jun 23, 2003 04:49 PM

I caught her while she was laying and she wasn't aggressive, the same was for the dione (she wasn't aggressive more then usual). I have very few snakes so i have always an eye on them (I'm the BIG BROTHER ) when is laying time, I think they are wrapped around eggs only to be sure they have no more eggs in and then they go away, none has an aggressive behaviour. so i don't think they are difensive about eggs. Perhaps some females are aggressive because they are stressed for laying , but i have very little experience and very few snakes, could be i'm wrong.
However now I have 4 (probably she'll have some other eggs in)enormous oxycephala eggs in incubator and they have a very hard shell, I hope they'll be goods.
Sorry for the long post and for my terrible english
regards
nazzza

Better than lots of herpers I know, but I won't mention any names..LOL.

The eggs are similar to the taeniura eggs, I think. Maybe they are related, but it would have to be more than just the eggs.

Did you get any pics of the eggs or the female laying? Thanks...TC.
