King Snakes - Please Read

wildthing642 Aug 07, 2004 02:07 AM

Hello everyone,

My name is Michael, and I am a 15 year old Snake hobbyist. But there is one type of snake, I love to observ whenever I can, one snake I find more beautiful than any others, and friendly, and thats the King Snake

I rarely get to glimpse a California King Snake maybe once a year in my yard, but I treasure it when I do.

I have been wanting a small king snake for quite sometime, just a normal banded black and white king snake.

I have been looking around online and looking that the prices lately. I have seen many sites, many offers, many classifieds, and many OUTRAGEOUS prices!

I have seen good prices though, and many good snakes. I have been offered snakes many times. But I have one issue, I simply cannot afford it. I'm not old enough for a job, and I don't have much money.

I am asking, if maybe anyone could donate me a snake, or let me pay them what little money I have. I only have $8 but I should be getting some more soon. This is not a rip-off, I am totally serious. Or if theres anything I can work out with someone, that would be very appreciated. PLEASE contact me at wildthing642@yahoo.com or if you want to MSN Messenger me its wildthing642@hotmail.com

Thank you everyone and God Bless!
Michael

Actually Michael, the opposite has occured in the last 10-15 years. Every year the prices decrease, not increase. It is all relative.

Michael, please read the TOS of this forum before posting. Also, I recommend that you go the Breeders section and e-mail the Breeders what you want.

you need to figure food bills, etc in w/ a snake its not the cost of the snake unless proper husbandry can be provided ,housing, temp.requierments, food requirement, etc if that cant be proper provided it doesnt matter if the snake is free or 1000bux because it will die, unless those are adequetly provided. im by no means trying to put you off to snakes. i as im sure countless other breeders will/would&have donated or price breaked for a new young "serious" hobbiest,, but 8 dollars, what about food, heatgradient, cage? these things cost as well if not properly provided for, there really is no point IMHO, i agree w/kirby also snake prices just drop and drop in price evry year morphs that were 300to500 bux each 3to4 years ago are now frequentantly availble for 25to50 bux each now do some research on the particular ssp ya want read about requirements, figure the cost of that and then aquire those items first, heat, tanks, securelids, hides&food(frozen),etc
and then see about aquiring the snake,,good luck

requirements is no problem for me. I have 2 snake salready, I have pleanty mroe uspplies to use. I have 2 tansk available, 4 heating lamps, tons of bedding, hide boxes, water dishes. And I have a big albino corn snake, so I know what it's like to take care of a snake lol. My mom pays for the food and supplies, but I have to pay for the snake itself. I should be getting some money within the next 2 weeks though.

Maybe I'm a Neanderthal, but if you have proper housing etc.,why don't you just catch one of those kings from your yard??

The Neanderthal guy has a good point. Why don't try and get information on how to find kings in your area. It would make the snake much more interesting and you would learn a lot more it habits this way. Besides its fun once you know their habitat and ways of collecting.

flipping boards depends on what part of the country you live. Out west the best time is feb and march.
