Earlier I went into the herp room to feed an 04 Trinket Rat. Took 4 cage clips off of the cage; looked in her favorite hide--no snake. Under the water bowl--no snake. Removed and examined all cage furnishings--nada. Under the substrate--the same.
So, as I'm standing there thinking, "How the blazes did it get out?" (or similar words), my eyes came to rest on the thick bamboo climbing branch. Peered in one end (again)--nothing. Looked in the other--nothing, yet there's a tiny opening leading into the next bamboo section.
Couldn't be! Carefully I pried open this dried bamboo and Voila!, out cascaded the little snake! Upon closer inspection I concluded that once inside the bamboo section, it was the perfect size for this youngster to curl up in and feel secure. She had even shed inside of this space! Meanwhile, she was in her feeding box devouring f/t pink rats. Happy snake happy herp mom = happy ending.
Who else has had an "impossible escape" that ended up with the snake being found in a other-than-usual place? Please share.
