Thanks for looking. I got my southern allit about when school ended....so about june. Great way to rap up a school year =) SHe was laying under a garden hose. One way that i've learned if it is a male/female, is by looking at the cheeks. If it seems to bulge out, then it is a male, if it is smaller, and more "slim" headed, than it is a female. I can say if this is gauranteed, but this is how i've told my alligator lizards apart. Or, if you have a southern alligator lizard, you might want to see if yours laid eggs. Then....it's a female. Mine ended up being duds, since female southerns lay eggs regardless if they were fertilized or not.
So, tell them apart by the muscle mass on their "cheeks." Do you have two or more lizards? Then it might be easier to find out. The cheeks on males will seems to jut out; having a more muscular triangular shaped head. Females have less of this, and their heads seems more petite. Hope this helps!
