Just received the new issue of Reptiles today. Saw the carpet article and had to read it before getting into any other mail. Well written. Keep up the good work! Awesome photos too!

I have to agree with you on that. Nice pictures and very well written.
I'm really glad you both liked it!

I guess I third the vote. It was a very well-written article. I thoroughly enjoyed all the text and the photos. I gave Will a call earlier today to see what he meant, in the section on breeding, about "excluding diamonds and centralians." I'm wanting to breed my centralians this coming season, and was pretty excited to have a breeding plan laid out that I could work with...until I saw that little road bump, lol. While we were on the phone, he encouraged me to get in touch with Reptiles and tell them that I enjoyed the article and would like to see more carpet stuff in the future. I think this is a great idea, and I myself would like to encourage everyone else to do so as well. I'm going to take the time tomorrow to type up an e-mail for Reptiles asking them to include more Morelia in future issues.

Will,
You already know what I think, but for the record, that article is the first step to making our favorite snake even more popular.
Again, good job and keep up the great work.

Wasn't there another article in the January 03 issue on carpets???
Yes, I realize that this was not the first article about Carpet Pythons to appear in the pages of Reptiles magazine, but the article you're speaking (published in the Reptiles USA 2003 Annual) was written by Bob Clark, who is admittedly not really into Carpet Pythons. The animals pictured in that article were far from spectacular, the content was brief and generic. Overall, it struck me as last minute filler material.
It's almost comical to me that anyone would compare the two.

I sincerely apologize for that last post. I typed that from work and got in a hurry when the phone rang. That sounded horribly sharp, when my intent was not to bash the other ad, but to point out the differences, which I clearly didn't do a good job of.
Bob's article in 2003 was a good read and accurate, but not as comprehensive as Will's. This is not to say that this is the author's (Bob Clark) fault, because the length of an article is usually determined beforehand, by the publisher (Reptiles Magazine, in this case). The animals pictured were also not bad looking Carpets for the time, but Carpet Pythons have come a long way in the US in the past 20 months, and Will's collection is a shining example of this fact.
In contrast to the other article, Will's was a feature length article, was very up-to-date, including images of animals and information that no one really knew about in 2003, as well as much more comprehensive in almost every aspect from morphs to specific breeding behaviors, etc.
Again, I really apologize for that last post.

Great to see this kind of stuff on a forum. It's rare to see someone take the time to correct a mis-communication. A wonderful example of diplomacy in the written word.
And as far as the snakes, all of you guys are creating some beautiful animals. When I can free up the change and decide if I want to add another snake to the 5 I already have, I think I've decided on a pretty high yellow Carpet.
