Both are small sized monitors but have very different personalities. A timor that is housed properly is rarely seen, as they are shy. Ackies, on the other hand, are just darn nosy critters, having to see everything and be in the action. They are very bold and inquisitive. It depends on what you are looking for in a monitor. These are just very minor basic differences. Read some books, read some caresheets (these just give you some idea of how to care for them)and if you are able, see both types of monitors in person. The red ackies can be a little more costly, but the yellows are not much more if not close to the same price as timors. You are the only person who can choose if a monitor is right for you. I have 4 yellow ackies, 2 red and 1 storrs. They all have very different personalities and I enjoy them for who they are. Good luck to you in your choice.

Then get a timor, they are beautiful, interesting but they run at the site of anything on average, they spend alot of time hiding. Ackies are balls to the walls brave, active, inquisitive kind of like a squirrel.
If you can get a truly CB Timor, they have their good qualities. Not a lap pet, of course. But true CB Timors are kind of tough to find. Anyway, no one can tell you which is best for you, but the odds are that it's an ackie.
