A friend of mine who lives in this small town, off a very rural road up on a hill, found a green iguana walking up the road towards her house. My friend thinks it is a ~2 yo female - my friend has had only large males and so may not be the best judge of assessing female ages.

She has posted signs up around town and the road the ig may have come from, and told lots of people around town about it, but so far, nothing. She will be contacting the county and Santa Rosa animal shelters as well as reptile rescues. She's checking the LOST ads in the paper, too.

If the ig wandered away from a local home, chances are the people would have figured out by now were their ig is. If they wanted it back.

It is possible that the iguana got away from someone who was visiting the area and gave up and left, not knowing that the ig has nwo been found.

Or it is possible that someone drove out to where they figured an ig would either make it or not.

My friend is ill, too, and isn't sure if she is going to be able to keep the iguana if the owner isn't found. The ig appears to be healthy, is very tame and inquisitive, hasn't been offered any food item she won't eat, and enjoys cuddling.

If you know the ig or who it belongs to, you can contact her at: archie (at) pon dot net
