Adjustment time?

tredding Aug 07, 2004 05:24 PM

I have a 4 month old new baby that I just brought home a week ago. On the breeders recomendations she spent 5 days alone with no handling. I offered an adult mouse and she was all over it. I was told not to handle her until she feeds twice. She seems well adjusted and is all over her cage. Can anyone tell me - Is the breeders suggestion over cautious or should I let her be for another week?

over cautios. It's a good idea but not mandatory. I have found BPs are like people and have different personalities. Some have no problems with frequent handling while others tolerate very little. It just depends. I think your breeder is giving a good guideline.

I give them more time than that myself.
Perhaps i am the over-cautious one.

I just think it is best that they forget about me for a while.

I agree. Ballies can get stressed over small things. knowing your new baby is comfortable and well established is going to be worth the 'just looking' period.
