Would it be considered "housing together"

crtoon83 Aug 07, 2004 06:20 PM

to have three cages stacked on top of each other, with the top one bisected so that two snakes could be in it, as far as sickness goes? That is my main concern on why I do not keep any of my snakes together at the current time, is because i'm afraid of the sickness aspect of it. I was planning on building 3 long boxes, 6 feet long 2 feet high 3 feet deep, stacked upon each other, with the top one bisected. I was going to put my black neonate and black licorice stick rat snakes on the bottom two, and my 2 bairds on the top. first off does this sound like something they could be happy in for their lives, and second off what would my germ transfer be on this? I would have vents on the side. Thanks, Chris

IF THEY'RE ALREADY IN YOUR COLLECTION CHANCES ARE THEY'RE HEALTHY. IF YOU DON'T INTRODUCE ANYTHING (PARASITES, MITES) IT SHOULDN'T BE A PROBLEM. IBD COULD BE A PROBLEM IF YOU HAVE BOIDS BECAUSE THEY DON'T ALWAYS SHOW SYMPTOMS RIGHT AWAY. JUST BE CAREFUL. I QUARANTINE MICE FOR A FEW DAYS BEFORE I GIVE THEM TO MY SNAKES. (NOT LIVE, FOR THOSE OF YOU THAT WOULD TELL ME LIVE MICE IS A BAD IDEA) MIGHT GET BETTER INFO IN THE FORUMS FOR THE SNAKES YOU'RE HOUSING ALSO.
