Punk stole my Indo Tree Boa!!!!

Crazy4Reptiles Aug 07, 2004 08:54 PM

I work at a pet store, Reptile dept, and some punk kid stole the Indonesian Tree Boa....Fortunately for that punk...he sold it to his friend, (because he couldn't get it to eat), who in turn returned it to me at the store.

I am having thoughts of purchasing it. I have never seen on any website or in any book this pattern and coloration. I will try to post a pic soon. In the mean time I would appreciate some information, I have tried to get it to eat, on many occasions and no luck as of yet. I was thinking maybe they don't even like to eat mice, maybe tree frogs or house geckos would be more their natural diet??? please help so i can save him from theft....or worse!!!

Thanx so much for the link. I read the info, and I have a few house geckos at work...unfortunately they are GREAT escape artists, I'll have to catch one from the walls! HAHA but I will try that. This guy is pretty small...about a foot long or so. I am going to try to get some pics within the next week. He is SO beautiful! I also apologize for starting a new thread...but I couldn't seem to find anything SPECIFIC to this little guy. Take care! and thanks again!

There seems to be a lot of theft going on in the business these days. Last year I was ripped off by two different guys who actually know each other. I guess the birds of a feather thing applies here. One of the thieves actually just sold one of the animals he stole from me and he gave the buyer some big long story about how he paid so much for the rare snake. What a loser. The cool thing is the buyer actually knows the truth now because I was asked by one of his friends if the animal was initially from me and I explained the whole scam that fooled me. I guess the moral is, if you are a scumbag you can run from the truth but you will never be able to hide from it.

The Indo tree boa should feed on lizards but they can be a bit tough to get started. I also recommend seeking out a site that specializes in those beautiful animals. Good luck!

That sucks about the guy ripping you off. Have you got it back yet? Candoia, when young or wild caught can be at times hard to get started on mice. Whats size and age is it? With Candoia patience is a must. Try a frog or small Gecko to jump strart feeding. After a couple feedings they usually convert to mice quickly. Besides Jerry Conways site, I have a yahoo group site devoted to Candoia. Here it is http://groups.yahoo.com/group/pacificislandboas.Also, a friend and I are just getting a website on Candoia started. We have a ton of stuff to put on but it takes so much timeHeres the web page. www.candoia.s5.com

Thanks for the compliments. Most the credit should go to Jason from the Yahoo group on the website. Its a start but with the website, my Candoia Yahoo group, Kingsnakes Candoia forum and Jerry Conways site I think there is a good network of info. It will be a lot of work but these Boas deseve the attention. Its a shame that Jerry Conway is basically the only one to have built a website on Candoia in the past.
