Hypo and Ghost genes, has anyone noticed them to be compounding.....more

Hoppy Aug 07, 2004 08:55 PM

Well, I am working off of my Boa breeding and my corn snake breeding, but I thing that I have really noticed in my Hypos and Ghost corns. Each successive generation seems to get lighter. Such as the Ghost picture I posted a few post down. If you didn’t it was a Ghost you would think it was a snow! Has anyone else noticed that there Hypos and Ghost Corns get lighter or Brighter with each generation? My Blue Eyed Ghosts have become almost white and pink and My Hypos are insanely Bright red and orange, to the point the camera has a hard time focusing on the snake? I can actually see each generation (I am now on the fourth breeding generation with the out breedings and all) the improvement or difference in them. I was wondering if anyone has noticed the same?
thanks

I'm guessing that what you are seeing is just a result of selective breeding.

I do pick out the best of the clutches to keep as my future breeding stock, but is it possible to go from this

to this in just 3 generations from selective breeding?

your ghosts are super light. Any hypo pics from the same ghost line?

Well, I don’t know if it is from the Lava or not because I really don’t know what the lava line is, I really should pay more attention to the new morphs that pop up. These all started from a Striped Corn, I still have here and a very pink and White Zigzag snow Corn (that I now realize was a Hypo Snow) Two years ago I added some Banded/Milksnake Phase to the group, But no Other Blood has been put in since then, So I really do have a clue why they are so Light. I thought that the gene is compounding itself each generation. Similar to the Salmon line of Hypo in the Boas.
This male Hypo here is from the same clutch as the Striped Ghost, I don‘t know if it is a Lava or not, I have never bought one, but I don‘t know where the line started. All I know about the line from the original breeders is that I bought them at the Expo the last year is was held in Orlando and I paid $20.00 for each snake from two different breeders……
