How Often can you hold teh Corns?

SnowCornBabe Aug 07, 2004 11:07 PM

I've been holding mine about every other day for like 5 minutes, just to give him excersise, should i stop for a little while, or does he apreciate the attention?

how long have you had them? If you just got them i'd hold 'em about 5 minutes 2-3 times a day, then give them at least 48 hours after you feed them before you handle them again. I always check to make sure they've used the bathroom before I handle them so they don't do it on me, lol. (it's happened once). got ne more ?'s...send me a message. or say hey on aim.... crtoon83 is my sn.

Some snakes are more readily held than others - the main thing is don't hold them for about 2 days after they eat, let them have nice quiet time to digest their mice, other than that I suppose it's a judgement call, if it doesn't seem to stress the snake much you can hold it fairly often, heck even a couple hours a day. I've seen guys who toted their snakes around all the time with no apparent ill effects. If the animal seems stressed from too often handling, or isn't eating good, or regurging then I'd hold them only as much as is required for feeding/cleaning/etc otherwise I guess you just make your own calls.

i don't handle my corns everyday. i handle them on avg. 3 times a week. i don't feed them in their cages so i remove them for feeding.
i take them out when i clean their cages and once a week i have a 20 to 30 min play time out of cages. this works for me and my corns.
