Spotted Python?

apfjavi Jun 23, 2003 06:07 PM

I'm thinking of getting a spotted python...does anyone know of any good (accurate) caresheets for these and is $50 too much for a baby? Any info on this species would be great. It's a beautiful snake but I've only ever dealt with kingsnakes and would love one of these pythons that doesn't get too big.
thanks!

$50 MAY be to little. But then again, maybe not. Spotteds are beautiful little snakes, and like you mention, don't get large at all. VPI.com has a caresheet I believe, and there is also a book that I think is titled "Australian Pythons" that has a pretty good care section on spotteds, children's, and other similar pythons. They are good climbers, and are sort of escape artists. So be aware of that, and I hope that things work out for you. Check out the cape york spotteds, they are usually a bit more expensive, but are very beautiful animals and are pretty hardy.

$50 isn't too much for a spotted python, though occasionally at reptile shows you can find them for even less. The Cape York spotted costs more, and they're worth it.

For care & other info, check out my site, www.thereptileshed.com.
