my grandparents lay down sticky trap to capture mice. i found 3 mice caught in tese traps, 2 of which is still alive. i cannot remove them from the traps with out serious injury or death. so what is the most ethical way to kill them, besides freesing them

Well, you have many options,
1. if you can, put a pensil or rod behind their head, and pull their tail, this will snap their spine.
2. Crush their head. variation is smashing them in the head with a blunt object.
3. cut their head off with a knife/samurai sword, swiftly.
4. Get a laser, youll know what to do ...
5. got access to C4?? how bout m80's.
some of these are jokes, but they will all work and will definitly wipe them out good.
Truth
Just get a pair of sissors and cut off the hair stuck to the glue. Hold the pad upside down while you are doing this, and have an empty jar under it to catch the mouse. After you cut the hair his feet might be stuck, carefully pull on the tail and get him off and in the jar. Then release them far away from your house in a wooded area.
no they wouldnt live
theyre young mice, about small hopper sized, the mom was there next to them dead, plus one tried to get free and riped his leags to shreads. the other one would starve. ive decided to kill them (which im sad to do but it should be done)

Pour vegatable oil on the glue. this will make it dissolve. and then they can run free.

im not freeing them, i cant,
they shredded their legs really bad, so even if they did get free they would die, either of infection, or of prediation.

Someone brought me several hoppers that were suckling thier dead mother in a trap. I didn't think they would live but they did. They were cute, with great big eyes and ears. I played with them and thought I would keep them as pets. When they were about grown they must have gotten hormonal and became vicious! Needless to say after several painful bites they are no longer with us....
i killed the mice, i felt bad about it, but it would have been worse if i freed them,
