New pics of my baby One Eyed Corn.

Lyn Aug 08, 2004 11:00 AM

I took some new pics of "Suezo" last night since he seems to be doing really good. If you've missed my previous posts, he hatched out with only one eye and has a slight kink in his spine. I don't breed, he was given to me by a local breeder. He still won't eat on his own, I try every week. But he force feeds easy enough and is pooping, so I know his digestive track is working. He is very alert and active and I think he'll make it just fine. I lost his brother last week. He didn't make it. He had too many problems, deformed jaw, missing a nostril, one eye was deformed, had kinks down his whole spine, and belly caved in. I had taken him to my vet but there was really nothing that could be done to save him. Poor little guy. But I'm very happy that little Suezo is doing so well.

Never can get over how tiny they are as babies...

He's spunky, but has only bitten me once.

This is the side with the missing eye...

He lives in a locking lid Sterilite, my all time fav for housing small snakes. He's been really cruising around lately which I think is a good thing.

Hopefully he'll start to eat on his own soon. Then I'll know for sure that he'll make it. I'll keep you posted!

Something you might want to try.
I was given this suggestion a couple of weeks ago so tried it out.
Get a can of tuna fish, in water, and dip a live pinkie in the water or "broth".
place the pinkie and hatchling in a deli cup and leave them alone for a little while.
I have a butter corn that I received in April that had never eaten on its own. It was a couple of months old then.
Well, finally last week I tried the tuna water and it ate on its own for the first time ever.
I thought I would try it this week without the water. It didn't eat. Tried the tuna water and within thrity minutes the pinkie was gone.
I do have two that this didn't work on but it is definitely worth a try.
I think one of the keys is the smallest pinkie you can find.
good luck
Jimmy

It's sure worth a shot! Can't hurt, and I like Tuna Fish so I'll have some nice lunches out of the deal LOL
