I took three of my beardeds outside for the first time today to get some real sun and the wigged out. They all puffed up and opened their mouths and didn't want anyone near them. Is this normal? Any suggestions? Thanks!
Brian

Hey one of my females did that too the other day! does anyone know why they do this?
Jay
Yes, this is normal they get freaked out if they are not used to being outside. Be careful, though, because if they get too spooked by something like a bird flying overhead they can panic and try to "run for thier lives!" My dragon almost got away from me when he spazzed out the first time I had him outside. I was barely able to hold on to him and get him back inside. When I put him down on the floor inside the house he was still so scared that he shot straight to the first thing that he could hide under, which was the refrigerator, and wedged himself under there.
make sure you really watch them when you take them out. When they start to run make sure you know what they are going for because, well here's my story...
I took my baby beardie who hadn't been eating well and wouldn't eat anything larger than a pin head of like 3 weeks. He sat there in the sun for 10 or so minutes when he took off. I thought he was just moving a little when he snapped at a bee... The bee was about the size of his head which suprised me when he went after it. He bit the back end of the bee and the stinger was caught in his mouth. Luckily i work at a vet and we got it out A.S.A.P. So if you run into a bee problem, get that stinger out! and if u live in a place with lightning bugs, those are deadly to your little beardies.
