Bearded Laying Eggs..... Question

lizardskin Aug 08, 2004 07:05 PM

Hello... I'm new to this forum. I've only had male dragons in the past but now I have a female in my collection. Today she laid eggs for the first time. She is a few years old and has never been with a male so I know the eggs aren't fertile. But my question is: Is it common for female Bearded Dragons to lay eggs every year even if they don't mate. And now that she has, is there anything I should do for her to help her recover. I'm going to make sure she gets extra food and calcium for the next week but is there anything else?
Thanks for your time.
Brian

Thats perfectly common, many females lay infertile eggs, even if not with a male. Sometimes if the male has been present or she can see or sense him, she will develop eggs. I would make sure she stays hydrated definetly, give her lots of water/pedialyte by dripping it on her nose, also giving her a bath once or twice a day for about a week. Give her extra calcium and feed her as much as she will eat. We sometimes give ours pinkys (baby mice, newborn) for extra fat/calcium, but not often, as they are HIGH in fat. Thats just what works for us.
