Help? Found this little guy, anyone know what he is?

frogchick Aug 08, 2004 07:13 PM

I found this itty bitty frog in the Olympic National Forest here in Washington state while we were camping last weekend. He is smaller than a dime. Can anyone tell me what kind of frog/toad he is?? I found him in a big patch of moss and clovers. He was not near any water, and around him were TINY holes in the ground like maybe they bury themselves?? The holes were no bigger around than maybe a pencil.

awwwww... thats a cute little baby western toad. i cought 4 as babys. i realesed 3 and kept one.he is full grown now. they do great in captivity. put it in a cage with mulchy dirt. and spray the cage every day or so to make sure its hydrated. when it gets a little older you can put it in the bath tub every so oftern. just make sure it has a place to rest in the tub so it doesnt drown. they eat crickets and females can get pretty big mabye 6" in length and males stay about 4". theyve been known to live up to 40 years in captivity. enjoy him/her.
