i just found an ear abcesses on my turtle. I took him to the vet, and he sliced the abcesses open and emptied it. He gave me baytril, and told me to put 2 drops in the turtles mouth daily. Only problem is, i can't get him to open his mouth.

I thought about putting the drops on the food sticks....would that work?

Any suggestions?

Most turtles I have heard of receiving Baytril get injections. Maybe you could call the vet, let him know you are not having any luck getting the turtle to take the meds orally and ask about the injections.

Good luck! Nancy

You can use a credit card to open the mouth.
If he'll eat a mealworm or cricket, you can inject the Baytril into ONE of those, and make that the first and only thing you feed him. After he eats that, you can feed the rest of the food.
