Tempered Glass

doubleok Aug 08, 2004 11:12 PM

The guy at home depot told me that Tempered glass is what I needed for my sliding doors on my cage. and apparently, tempered glass at a 48"x24"x1/4" is about $100 dollars. Is this right, or is it a lot cheaper than that? And do I really need tempered glass if temperatures reach 90 degrees in the hot spot?

1/4 inch plate glass with seamed or polished edges is fine.

Tempered is overkill for most apps.

Although many cage applications that use regular plate glass are just fine, tempered glass is the best glass to use if you can afford to do so. It is far more resistant to cracking when you accidently whack it with a snake stick (maybe I'm the only person who has done this) or when you accidently drop the door down on something. It is incredibly strong and will last a lifetime easily.
