going on vacation how should i feed my FBT?

rc_racer_007 Jun 23, 2003 07:57 PM

ok im going camping for 4 days. whats the best way to feed my FBTs while im gone? i know how ya feed dart frogs, but i dont have any good ideas on keeping crickets in there cause theyll just suck em down.

should i just give em a bunch before i leave or what should i do? and i have no friends/neighbors/family (that i would ask) to do it.

I would not worry about feeding him if you're only being gone for four days. I have left my firebellies alone for a week for vacation, with no ill effects. It is better to feed them a bit before you leave, and clean out the cage and water thoroughly before you go, than for uneaten crickets to die and foul up the tank, or even gang up on the toad and harm it while unattended. If possible i would suggest asking someone to change the water daily, if it is someone competent.

make sure the toad cannot dry up while you are gone. I usually put an evctra waterbowl in when I go away, in case of evaporation, but for 4 days you should be ok unless the air is very dry.
