Gravid Amazon Basin Emerald...

ghireptiles Aug 09, 2004 04:24 PM

I have wanted an animal like this textbook female for quite sometime and a little over a year ago I had the opportunity to purchase one that I had previously sold to someone about nine months prior. Unfortunately she was packed improperly by the guy and arrived at my place in bad condition with broken teeth, damaged tissue in her mouth, and a respitory infection so I sent her back. Since that time I have been in somewhat of a search for another large textbook female. Thankfully about seven months ago I had another opportunity to purchase a similar animal and as luck would have it I was able to obtain her. I guess it's fate because overall she is a better looking animal that produced amazing babies two years ago this coming September 10th! The babies had very long crossbars, nice stripes, and very nice laterals and diamonds. Along with this female I purchased the male that bred her previously and they did just what I was hoping for.....they bred. She ovulated march 28th and went through her post ovulatory shed on april 14th. This is day 117 so the babies are due somewhere between the end of the month and the first week of september. Hopefully if all goes well I may be posting baby pics in two months! Here is a pic of mom that I took today and the image in the reply to this post is a pic of one of her offspring that I got from the september 10th 2002 litter. Enjoy her......I know I am!

Actually you don't have to be rich to get good snakes from him he is quite competitive with his pricing. Tony is definately the guy to find for emeralds! I still can't get ovet that Mandarin!!!!!!!!

Have you ever seen a cleaner facility? I was there two weeks ago and saw the Surinam Babies and they are incredible! So you are one of the lucky ones that snagged one of those huh?

Matt, Yup, snagged one of those......Tony is so meticulously clean it is almost scary (LOL)....there wasn't even any water stains on the acrylic cages! What impresses me MOST is how much fun he has taking care of them.....

I know what you mean....everytime I am there he is cleaning his acrylic cages. But he does consider these animals living works of art and I guess artwork needs to be clean so scrub away Mr. Nicoli!

Actually Tony has a sibling to this animal and so does Brad and Cassandra of BJ Arboreals. You can see pics of both on their websites.
