stupid question?

hummi22689 Aug 09, 2004 06:20 PM

They say there are no stupid questions, but some may think this one is, but I am curious. I know corns and rats are very closely related. so, if a corn and a ratsnake, say a black rat, mated, would the offspring be rats or a color morph of corns?

It would be a cross between the two. Not a corn and not a black rat. A corn is also called a red rat snake. A good example is the creamsicle corn. It is a cross between a corn snake and an Emorys rat snake. Purists dont like them but many people do. Hope this helped some.

If you scroll down a bit you'll find some pics of our newly hatched amel corn x great plains rat. They're a mixture, so far 2 amel, and 7 normal, but with hardly any orange. The one on it's way out of the egg today is extremely pale, but can't tell what it looks like really apart from the red eyes.
