HELP!!! Sick Tinc

rmouser Jun 23, 2003 08:19 PM

Hello,

I have a female alanis tinc that is sick. Its left eye has become an opaque white, like a shedding snake but not as gray. It has also been hiding under the same leaf most of the time, instead of on the coconut hut. Has anyone ever experienced this kind of problem? Is there an at-home remedy? Any information would be appreciated.

Thank you,

Ryan

Other than where it's hiding, have you noticed anything different about it's behavior? (Is it eating?) Have you had any drastic changes in humidity/temperature lately?

temp and humidity are the same as they have been. And she is eating whenever I feed them.

Thanks,

Ryan

If she's eating well that's a really good sign, as anorexia is usually the first signs of severe distress. I'd keep a close watch on her behavior and the eye itself just to make sure it doesn't get any worse. If it DOES get worse, you might want to take a trip to the vet, but most vets don't have the ability to treat such exotic pets (as I've learned before!) But like I said before, if she's eating, that's definitely a good sign. Good luck

Please contact me directly at info@QualityCaptives.com and I will send you the email address of our vet. We have just recently started using him but we know of another breeder who uses him for his darts and is very happy as well. This is a part of his email to me in regards to your post: ".......I do think I could diagnose this gentleman’s problem if I could ask him a few questions........ Frogs only get a handful of ocular diseases resembling what he describes, but most of them can not be cured. Some can, however – so if he wants to try, he should contact me......."

Thanks,
Sarah
