What is it that keeps calling back! (long)

caecilianman02 Aug 09, 2004 09:20 PM

Hi there:

In a vivarium positioned on the second floor next to a window facing the back of the building houses various Anoles and some green tree frogs...
A couple of years ago, I found a large American toad in my front garden, which is extremely unusual, because I am surrounded on all sides by busy two-way streets. I have no idea where he could have come from. There is no body of water arround for tadpoles, and this area is quite urban. I caught him, kept him for awhile, and then let him go.
Recently a friend down the road found a toad as well, and said that she had also found another a few weeks before that.
Anyway, my green tree frogs used to exhibit "rain singing" only during the day or when it was raining. However, they recently have been going crazy all night long. I have opened the windows, and now it is getting even worse. Non-stop. I am amazed that they do not kill themselves calling so much. It isn't normal.
Recently when my dad went outside to take the trash out, he said that he suddenly heard what sounded like a really large frog calling repeatedly. I went upstairs and the green tree frogs were going berzerk. They also were tonight! My dad went outside and said that he heard the other frog calling again! He claims that it sounded like an American Bullfrog.
Can anyone tell me what this may be about?

I Think thats very common, my WTF do it too! and i have heard other stories of frog croaking at wild frogs. about all you can do is close the window or try to muffle the sound, maybe cover it up with some sourt of music (nature sounds maybe?) just try to to scare him.
