Female acting up...

beardielover13 Aug 09, 2004 11:15 PM

Today i brought my breeder pair out together. My male started headbobbing and all of a sudden, my female puffs out her beard (i didn't move so she wasn't scared) and runs toward the male. it looked like 2 males doing the breeding behavior to eachother. I have already ruled out having 2 males because my female has layed eggs this year and last year. She is only 3 years old, weighs 400 grams, and is 18 inches long. What is wrong with her. She also kept biting his tail and he would try to bite hers but she is bigger and he couldn't bite her. Thanks.

she's not ready to mate and/or doesn't want to breed with your male. Tell your male to put some better music on next time and flash a little bit of green (salads of course) and show her a good time first..

That or your female may be bigger than your male and is being more dominant and can fight off the male. Or maybe she's just a real aggressive female.

More then likely when she's ready to breed she will. At three years of age she may need to be brumated to stimulate her breeding responses.

Course, you could also have two females.

Good luck

I know for a fact i have a male and female. they gave me babies last year. She is not super aggressive either, she's sweeter than the male. i brumated her this past winter for the second time.
