A lot of people on the forum have been asking me to show some pics of my outside pond for my Red Eareds. I havent been ignoring you just compiling some pics to post all at once to help any others in constructing a somewhat large pond.
The Dimensions... It measures on the inside wall of the pond 8ft long, 5ft wide, and 2ft and 2inches deep. I calculated the water in gallons sometime ago, and depending on the water level it could hold anywhere from 750-600 gallons. Thats a lot of force so you realy can't add enough structure reinforcement.
The Cost..... I was lucky enough to trade some animals that I had bred myself for almost all the components, making the cost a considerable amount less but, including the liner ($175 value) and the pump and fountain set ($125 value) I saved a bit. The filter used in the set up is an inexpensive Tetra Bio Pond Filter for up to 750 gallons, I paid $75 shipped for it I believe. The wood and lining cost a little over $125. The gorgeous red eared sliders in the pond (priceless).
I set up the main structure and used nothing but screws so I could take it back down later which as you will see in the pics was nessacary.
