Your snake looks a little thin. Try feeding it more often. Puff Adders in captivity should be much larger. He appears to be wild caught with that body weight.

You must really not know a thing about Bitis and their healthy body weight..... Remember fat reptiles are unhealth reptiles..... Here is one more pick just for you....

Beautiful arietens Gregg. Certainly not emaciated, lol! I've always been a fan of the "cheap" puffs, probably even more so than the other, more popular, Bitis. I guess a snake that can yield upwards of 70 offspring easily...well, that just amazes me. That, and I think they are gorgeous, period. A friend of mine recently bred his big female with one of his friend's males, and the male was an amazing orangish-red snake. Definitely a sight to behold. Some of the babies seem to show a bit of this orange appearance, so maybe they'll develop like Dad. Anyway, thanks again for all the excellent shots.

Hey Chance..... I love my puffs..... They are so much more aggressive and way more active than my gaboons..... They can be a hand/hookfull at times..... The particular female I have pictured is one of the craziest puffs I ever had.... She strikes at anything that moves..... I cant even get a male in there with her..... I also need to keep her cage front covered 24/7...... I have a report of a huge wild caught female having well over 100 babies..... No wonder they have such a huge distibution in Africa....
