Opinion On Tank Size, which do you think is better?

frogsandchams Jun 23, 2003 09:38 PM

I have several tree frogs. (Grey and green). Which is better - right now they are in a 20-25 gallon long tank, but I also have a 20-25 taller tank (not a hexagonal).

It depends on how many several is. For most treefrogs, a 20T is better than a 20L. But, for Greens you shouldn't have more than 3 in a 20 or 4 in a 25 and that's pushing it to bare minimums - and Gray's are even a bit bigger than Greens. Bigger is always better and I personally wouldn't keep anymore than 2 in a 20. Hope this helps.

I have my mystery frogs in a 100 gallon mesh cage that stands about 4 feet high. They love it. I have a small tree on one side with a little lagoon on the other. They sit in the tree all day long, but when I pop in on them at night, they can be anywhere. I've even caught one of them swimming a couple of times. Anyway, I only have two in this right now. I have three more that only morphed from tadpoles a few days ago that are too small to eat the crickets. So, I have them in a 10 gallon aquarium where I can feed them bugs that are small enough for them to eat without having to worry about the tiny bugs escaping through the mesh. But my larger frogs love the height. They stay on the highest branches of there tree. SO I say for tree frogs higher is definately better.
