Chuckwalla... Singing.... Warbling.... ???? is it possible?

ripdabytes Aug 10, 2004 08:50 PM

hello all,
let me start off with this is not a joke / prank/ gag.
this is a very real situation that i am very curiouse about.
I have a 2.5 yr old chuckwalla in perfect health. ( had "chuck" since hatch ling )
very good environment. Up until 2 wks ago i have never heard him
( no i never sexed him he just "acts" like a male) make any sound whatsoever
now every morning he wakes me up at 5:30 making a very unique sound.
i am trying to figure out the best way to describe this sound.
and this is best i can do. take a small bird ( like a cockatiel or budgie )
reduce the level by 75% and remove the high pitched squeals.
I will play out my thoughts real quick and why i have discounted them.
I have thought "Gas" sorta like a reptile burp... i discount this because.
Gas @ same time each day for 2 wks? also.. this is a repetitious sound
that goes on for 20 min or so. Its not gas or air escaping.
plus i have not changed his diet or his environment.
i have thought "mating call" but then i believe that 2.5 yrs old isn't the right age.
plus... reptiles don't have vocal cords... i don't think any way.
OK, now this might be my own delusions here....
my Gf and i just broke up a few months ago. and the resident cockatiel.
has gone with her. these Sounds, sound very much alike. Is this possible ???
they were always in close proximity... can my chuckwalla be lonely and trying to imitate a bird?????
my head says no... my ears say yes.
so has any one with a chuckwalla experience anything remotely like this?
thnx for your fead back.

Each day when it is time to feed the Dogs, my dogs bark and get very excited to eat.

My chucks, have now started to imatate the dogs barking, although the Chucks can BARK BETTER then the Dogs,

(Laughing like crazy, falling off my chair)

I'm sorry , I could not resist! I have never heard my guys or girl make any sound, but thats not to say they can't.

I think it sounds as though you are missing the cockatiel Hhehehe ! Just go buy a new one, LOL And you can all TALK to one another.

I hope you know I'm kidding, maybe someone else has heard theirs and can help ya. Glad your here, keep us updated on Chuck !

You may make a fortune on him !

anything like that! I have barking tree frogs and a dog, but never had a my chucks join in. I only have 2 females though.

I'd say video tape it and see if you can make a million with it!

I wouldn't mind seeing it myself!
