hello all,
let me start off with this is not a joke / prank/ gag.
this is a very real situation that i am very curiouse about.
I have a 2.5 yr old chuckwalla in perfect health. ( had "chuck" since hatch ling )
very good environment. Up until 2 wks ago i have never heard him
( no i never sexed him he just "acts" like a male) make any sound whatsoever
now every morning he wakes me up at 5:30 making a very unique sound.
i am trying to figure out the best way to describe this sound.
and this is best i can do. take a small bird ( like a cockatiel or budgie )
reduce the level by 75% and remove the high pitched squeals.
I will play out my thoughts real quick and why i have discounted them.
I have thought "Gas" sorta like a reptile burp... i discount this because.
Gas @ same time each day for 2 wks? also.. this is a repetitious sound
that goes on for 20 min or so. Its not gas or air escaping.
plus i have not changed his diet or his environment.
i have thought "mating call" but then i believe that 2.5 yrs old isn't the right age.
plus... reptiles don't have vocal cords... i don't think any way.
OK, now this might be my own delusions here....
my Gf and i just broke up a few months ago. and the resident cockatiel.
has gone with her. these Sounds, sound very much alike. Is this possible ???
they were always in close proximity... can my chuckwalla be lonely and trying to imitate a bird?????
my head says no... my ears say yes.
so has any one with a chuckwalla experience anything remotely like this?
thnx for your fead back.
