A couple of questions

doubleok Aug 10, 2004 10:55 PM

1.) I was wondering what would happen to a Chinese Water dragon that apparently dislocated his femur from his hip bone? It seems as though one of my CWDs fell sometime and did this such thing. When I went to look at it closer, I was able to feel it "pop" back into place. When something hurts or bothers him, he'll squirm relentlessly and I imagine that he might even try to bite. But apparently this doesn't seem to bother him at all. I put his femur back into place, but when he went climbing again, it popped right back out. It doesn't affect his climbing nor hurt him. Is this a life/death situation or can he live a happy and healthy life and breed without much pain? I'm taking him to the vet tomorrow, but some optimism would be appreciated.

2.) I have to sub/adult AFT geckos, and something concerns me. The male has stomatitis, but he's been to the vet and is on Aglimyde for the anti-biotic and I can understand if he doesn't eat for a while. I imagine he eats some, because he's not getting skinny. But the female that I have, I've never seen eat anything, except for when I felt that force-feeding was necessary. I've had them for approximately 2 weeks, and if something was wrong with the female internally, I figure that I would have seen it by now, because I've seen an AFT gecko make a 180 and go downhill in around 2 days. But, the funniest thing of it all is that she's shedding. Am I worrying over nothing, or should I still be concerned? A fecal will be done on her, but these questions are for peace of mind.

Weigh the female AFT. If there's no weight loss, you're ok. Is it possible she's gravid? Also... I think you'll just have to wait for the vet's opinion.
