Anyone have them? What are your experiences?
I'm in the SWHS Al Robbins chapter, For adoption was a 75 year old male Desert tortoise I was looking to get, but instead I decided to take on a hatchling next month so it gets a good start.
I'm just looking to find out what food they enjoy. and more about their burrows. I don't plan on having them hibernate this year or the next. since it's not cool enough inside and I wouldn't want it to go in and out all winter. However when I do I'd like to know, how deep do they usually dig, and do they like to dig out of yards when they do? The keeper said they usually dig straight down more than anything.
I'm just worried with such a small yard, there's a chance that it'll dig far out and escape.
