Variation Among Patterns in Normals

reptilicus81 Aug 11, 2004 12:04 AM

Here is a picture to show the amazing variations in patterns among "normal" ball pythons! The bottom one is in shed, but she normally is as dark as the other one. Both snakes are 03 babies...the bottom one is a female the top one a male!
I am happy with my normals for now, but I told my boyfriend that when he proposes I want an albino ball instead of a fancy ring hehe! C'mon who needs a diamond anyways!
Thanks!

Wow, the perfect woman! LOL. I always joke with my girlfriend that she is going to get an albino around her finger instead of a ring (since I have so much money invested in Ball Pythons)... Needless to say, she doesn't find it too humorous! lol

It's funny that you mention the "albino" as an engagement 'ring'. My wife tells me that the 10th anniversary is the albino ball python anniversary, but it looks like she'll be getting that and a pied! When I proposed to her back in 1994 it would have been cheaper to buy her a nice diamond ring (which I did), then to buy an albino ball, which were still around $7,500 if I remember correctly! LOL!

By the way, great looking patterns on your "normals"! As you can tell from my signature/picture, I too am a big fan of interesting patterns!

I'm not so certain that circle pattern snake is a normal. Granted that the difference from the normal snake on the left is more subtle than the difference between a normal and an albino. But a breeding program may show that pattern can be inherited. First step would be to mate those two snakes.

They are both a little under 500 grams, so they have some growing to do before making babies! I also have 2 other males one is about 800 grams, and one is about 1500 grams So, I wouldn't even know who to try and breed he out to. I originally thought she was a bit a classic jungle, but she doesn't have the light eyes or spot on the head, so she is normal, but she only cost 59 bucks so I don't care he he!

The big one in the pic below is the largest male (2001 baby)...he is as normal as they come, but my favorite of all (until my albino comes), because he was my first snake! I'll try and post a pic of the last male too in another post!

And the way I figure it, if my boyfriend is gonna spend 2,000 he better be spending it on something great...give me a cracker jack ring and splurge on the albino! I mean it is gold right!

Here is a picture of my final male. If I were to breed her out...this would probably be the boy I would breed her to. But as of right now she has lots of growing up to do!
