Had a small one get out last night. I keep them in the basement with all doors shut so if they do get out they don't get far. It worked! We also keep the rats in the same part of the basement but around the corner and at the opposite end. Little turd found one of the litter tanks with a mom and 2 babies. He was crafty enough to get out of his but was just sitting there staring at mom and babies. He was cold to. Found him inside of 60 seconds.
