Nothin in particular

We finally moved out of the apartment It went pretty well, we took apart most of the cage then when they woke up we put them in a big cooler with blankets. They weren’t as content in there as we had thought so we let them out as soon as we got to the house even though the cage wasn’t together. The cage sure looks like a massive thing in its new spot. We finally took out the divider so they got the full 8 feet now.
I was surprised they didn't eat as much as usual that day because it was a new place I guess. I measured Jazz the other day; even though she has slowed down dramatically she has put on an inch and a half in the last month 37". Last time I measured Taz he was 44" .
We got to take Taz outside for the first time today since we don't have to worry about getting kicked out of the apartment anymore. He did very well but I could tell he was a little scared because he sat in our flowers for a while. Nothing like the biting, scratching, wiping, back to the wild horror stories I've heard.

Congrats on the new house! Isn't it nice not to have to hide your animals or sneak them in and out?

Yeah I feel like I have a weight lifted off my shoulders. It would cross my mind every time someone knocked at the door. The policy there was that you would have to leave but were still responsible for rent threw the end of the lease! One time my bathroom in the apartment flooded and I had to call maintenance immediately. I threw a blanket over the caged and told them it was storage space when one of them asked . I think he was a little skeptical to say the least but there was too much stuff piled up in front of it for them to check.

what are you using for substrate? Thanks Russ

I'm using Canadian sphagnum peat moss in the cage and the rubbermaid hide box. At first I used the standard cypress mulch but one of my tegus developed a taste for it! In regards to your last topic I have found some mold in the hide box after I wet it once. Since then I check in there for a few days after I rewet it.

Great and congrats on the new home!!! The cage looks great Rollin! I may have found a female blue for a descent price, but $$$ is real tight for us now, so we'll see. I also need to build a new cage as well to accommodate phoenix and ozzy, plus the new blue (if we get one )

Thanks again for keeping us posted and for the pic!

Thanks man, we built the cage ourselves. It wasn't that cheep we used melamine board, it came to over 100$ for everything. At 8’ by 3’ it looks so massive when you’re standing looking down at all 24 square feet; it didn’t look as big with the 2 bearded dragon cages on it. I’m thinking I need another reptile and cage to put on top of it

LOL. You know what, may be you need another lizard!!!
Actually a bit over $100 is about avg for a cage that big. Good thing you did not use Oak or Birch, than your price would have tripled!!! LOL. I may just use regualr plywood/sanded one-side. We'll see. The melamine board works well too, but man that stuff weighs a ton! It is not really too cheap around here either..........about $30 for a 4x8 sheet. For $8 more a sheet I could go with oak or birch, but then you have to stain/paint it, versus the malamine board is all set to go basically.

Good luck with the tegus Rollin!

congratulations, it is really cool for them to have a place outside to roam for a while.

Congrats on the new place! I'm sure Taz & Jazz enjoy the bigger cage. And what a relief not having to hide 'em anymore!
