i gotta a beardy maybe 4 months old, and i wanna put her in a 75 gallon soon. is it really a bad thing to use play sand or a fine sand, or do i really need to but the stuff in the store thats expensive when you gotta buy like 4 bags to cover the bottom. i mean they dont have that stuff in the wild, so whats so bad about it in captivity? thanx Joe

the stuff in the store called "calci-sand" is possibly the worst stuff to use aside from crushed walnut. If you want to used wash playsand (big bags at home depot) just be sure to sift it first to get out all the big stones, there are a lot of people who use it. I use red wheat bran, in my opinion its the safest for dragons over 10-12 inches, it smells great also and the dragons love it, but its all up to you really. You can get wheat bran at livestock feed stores, its about 10 bucks for a 40 pound bag.

Ive been usin the bran for months now and mine is doing just fine on it as well. In fact the store that I deal with is trying it out now. Considering the price of it, you cant go wrong.
