Best cage for a PET BOA

MyLeftArm Aug 11, 2004 01:06 PM

OK, i know most of you are gonna scream BOAPHILE PLASTICS at me... but first hear me out...
I have one boa. One. Not breeding him, not getting more... One.
He is a pet. I currently have him in a 30 gallon tank, which, though I hear is not ideal, has been maintained by us humans here very well, temperature, cleanliness and humidity... Snake seems happy.
But snake is growing, (8 months old, still has room but...) and we want time to do our homework to get a cage that both boa will be happy and well-maintained in, but that is attractive etc for our home.
My preference would be something off the floor with a drawer for his supplies, etc. something about what, 6 feet long, and height, i will leave up to you experts. Think pretty. Think spoiled pet. Think around 1 grand tops.
Ok, now let the feedback begin. Will research all suggestions given. thanks!

Vision cages are my personal preferance.

Boaphiles are nice cages, but w/ the extras gets pricy.
Vision cages are good
Moonstruck cages are good and come with installed heat
You could always build your own cages

but does a snake need 8 feet of floor space and like only 2 feet of headspace (height?) i would think something around 5-6 feet long, but like 4-5 feet high is better? Or am i thinking like a human, and not like a snake? your opinions? All i know is that my boa likes to stand up when he gets the chance....see photo.
ps, i like the building one idea, however, i have 2 left feet and no green thumbs...ya know what i mean? (me no buildy nothing!)

I agree that Cage is Huge, they might have something smaller 8 Ft. is long i think the hieght/depth of that cage is good for a "Display Quality Cage" but they Look Nice !I myself would go with a Boaphile or Vision, but you said you wanted somthing of a Higher Quality for your living room, and that's the only company i could think of,check the other company's out listed there im sure you'll find somthing you like ! Good Luck !

Given Alan at www.junglehabitats.com a call/email.. He makes customs and can probably make exactly what you are looking for, for a very reasonable price.
